Grand finale of SIH 2022 concludes successfully at CGC Landran

Only nodal centre from Punjab chosen for the Prime Minister’s interaction with SIH finalists

Landran : Teams Athena, One & Zero, Samidha, Sixth Harmony, Digital Pirates, DOTS, Kyogre, Kamikazee and Matrix 001 were declared winners of the grand finale (software edition) of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH-2022) that successfully concluded at nodal center CEC-CGC Landran.

The institution hosted around 200-plus students of 27 teams from different states, across the country for this edition of the Hackathon. Hosting the event for the fifth consecutive year, CGC Landran was the only nodal center from the state of Punjab and one of the 8 from among the total 75 nodal centers, chosen for the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s direct interaction with young innovators participating in SIH 2022.

All the winning teams were felicitated with cash prizes of Rs One lakh each, certificates and trophies by the Chief Guest Mr Vivek Atrey, Ex IAS, Motivational speaker & Chairman of PRCI, Chandigarh.

The teams were adjudged winners based on the solutions they provided to the problem statements given to them by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, India Meteorological Department (IMD) and Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).

The winners of SIH Junior 2022, Harmanjot Singh, and Aarav Jain were also felicitated with cash prizes of Rs 25,000/-, each for their innovations. The winning teams were adjudged on the basis of key parameters which included the approach of the solution provided for the problem statement, its criticality/impact, the innovation, ambitiousness and technology, the plan execution demo and the user experience.

Team Athena provided solution for detecting Covid-19 (using face recognition) suspects in crowd, at the school/office Building entrance along with their attendance and other alerts, while team One & Zero gave the solution to tackling the lack of uniform GIS system at Ports.

Team Samidha won for their solution provided for Smart fuel consumption monitoring system for tugs, boats & dredgers while, teams Sixth Harmony and Digital pirates were declared joint winners and shared the cash prize amount for their solution provided for creation of single source platform for vessel registration and sea farers license.

Similarly, team Kyogre built a solution for non-residential built-up extraction using AI techniques while team DOTS provided a solution for consensus of hourly visibility forecast for airports using NWP model and observations.

Teams Kamikazee and Matrix 001 emerged as joint winners for their solution provided for Bias correction of NWP model temperature forecasts for cities using ANN/ML/DL).SIH-2022 is jointly organized by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, All India Council for Technical Education, Persistent Systems, and i4c.

SIH is a nationwide initiative by Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell to provide students a platform to solve the pressing problems of the government, ministries, departments, industries and other organizations. It is being conducted annually, since 2017, in two formats i.e. SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions for higher education students.
